Hi Monica,

<smiling> My problem is that I like just about anything in fiction. If I have one complaint, it would be that there is a propondrance of romances, at least currently on Step One, and there are some incipid books by incipid authors. However, here is what I like to read:

I'm not much for general fiction as that is usually some family saga or about somebody who's got divorced and has to make do, or some kind of real-time gumbus.

historical fiction (preferably not regencies or victorian, unless they are Georgette Heyer too many people try to duplicate her witty and always fascinating style)

mysteries with interesting characters and good fast plots

Suspence/spy stuff

Science Fiction especially hard Science Fiction space travel space military, interesting aliens, no political exploration You can give Asimov back his Foundation stuff and Herbert his Doon stuff

Westerns within reason

adventure both nonfiction and fiction

Good children's lit always, always, always! What we write for our kids is what they remember and how they learn. After all, folks, writing is the extension of the fireside school of the story teller.

Biographies but need those to be chosen by me

Animal books

Fantasy of all types except maybe the vampire stuff, Allison likes those, though.

The occasional Naval yarn is good.

Classics always, more Straton Porter and Tarkington and stuff like that, and I wish I could find Our Hearts Were Young And Gay by Skinner. I suppose we could use some more tomes like the Greek plays and so on.

You did ask, my friend. Can you spell eclectic?

Ann P.
