That all depends on how you look at it. It works for me.

At 08:43 AM 12/21/2005, you wrote:
I would like to see them do away with the format table for each book and
relegate it to a key accessed by a button. Also would like to see the
synopsis of the book located right after the Title, author and reader lines.
I found that I have to search for the synopsis, which may be located after
other books you might like or other books by the same author. I've only
used it once since the format change, and I'm sure I'll get used to the
program after a while, but it is certainly not blind-user friendly.

I have--I told them that I consider it a significant improvement. Also,
using one's blindness as a crutch just to complain about change doesn't do
any blind users any good.

I have objected to Audible already about the new layout. It really isn't great. I urge all Audible users to make their feelings known to Audible as the company is the only source for changing the site. I know they have heard from many blind users. I hope they listen.

You actually "like" the new layout? You've got the patience of a saint! I'm fit to be tied and I've been steaming since I discovered the "upgrade" on Saturday. It's a messssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMHO, this is not a good time to start a new membership. I find the 10-items per page totally unworkable! I want to spend my time browsing, not navigating from one page to another. They actually put ratings in the library, which makes no sense (since obviously you can't rate what you're about to download to listen to and it uses up space better spent on allowing a reasonable number of entries per page). I've got several hundred titles in my library from almost six years of membership, and I can't navigate to a title in the middle of the list without massive mashing on the "next" link, which I'm not ;prepared to do. They've made the "new releases" page which was my mainstay just about unusable, and every time I see that dumb " "I want to" combo box, I can never find the option I want--"Kill or inflict massive damage on whoever designed this insane web page". ... But you really don't want to get me started.

I'll reply to this as a general post, since others may wonder about it also. With Audible.com's new format, your library will appear on pages containing something like ten entries each. Each downloadable file is equipped with a check box in case you wish to download multiple files simultaneously, and a single Download Now button appears at the bottom of the page. By default, the largest filesize is pre-selected for download, and that means Format Four in most cases. If you have trouble downloading multiple files, make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off. You'll find that option on your web browser's tools menu. Also, for those of you who enjoy podcasts, some of your Audible purchases are now available as podcasts.

The new layout will look complicated initially, but it's actually quite
simple. The format choices for each file are selectable in combo boxes,
but
again, if you're choosing Format Four and you know your title is
available
in that format, it's the default selection. All in all, you need only
check
the boxes for the files you wish to download and press Enter on the
Download
button. For those of us who have become accustomed to seeing a Download
button for each entry, a little adjustment in modality will be required,
but
the new layout is actually quite streamlined. Personally, I'd like to
have
more entries per page, but that wouldn't be feasible since only so many
files can be cued for download. It took me three or four days to really
begin to like the new system, but it works very well. Screen readers
are
somewhat cryptic about describing the table elements, but once you find
the
few crucial ones the layout won't be bothersome.
