Did you completely uninstall the software before installing the newest version?
Weird. I've downloaded that several times and still the transfer software refuses to see any upgrades for the firmware!

I had a very similar problem with my book port. I connected it to the
computer and the computer did recognize it but nothing happened.
Usually it checks for an update and lonches the transfer software. I
took larry's suggestion and downloaded <http://www.aph.org/beta/bp_beta.exe>www.aph.org/beta/bp_beta.exe and
ran it. This reinstalled the transfer software and now everything seems
to be working just fine.
