Hi Pamela and list!

You are correct. Should be easy enough to fix then.

Cheers,
Dave

Unless Open book has changed recently, I think they use Elloquence or Via Voice, which isn't what we're looking for.

The Sapi 5 Speech Engine, which is a Microsoft product is usually installed with Windows, but we have found that if people are using another nonEnglish version of Windows as their default, then the Sapi 5 engine is not automatically installed. With the latest version of Book Port Transfer, we are looking to execute that speech, in order to utalize the conversion of text to audio. Th3e error he's getting tells us that the speech engine is not installed and therefore, it can't execute it.

Hi Pamela and list!

That's odd. I know she has Open Book installed. That has, depending on which
version of OpenBook she has, either one or two sapi engines.

Cheers,
Dave

Brunyon:

I ran that message by our programmer and he says it means you don't have
any Sapi Speech Engines installed. This usually happens if you don't have
an English version of Windows installed.

Hi:

Yes, do it on each card that has the manual on it. Otherwise, you're
gonna
continue to get that error message. I think that'll clear up your
problem.
Let me know if it doesn't.

Pamela

Bronwyn:

Well, I don't know what the problem is. We're looking into another
situation, so it could be that when that one is resolved, it'll also help
your situation. I can understand why the older one would work, because it
doesn't have speech attached. We only started uses the Sapi 5 engines
with
Version 2.3, so if your original install is older, that would explain why
it
installs.

What other speech engines do you have installed?

I'm sorry, I don't have a fix for you now, but I will report it.

Hi Bronyon:

We are looking into this, but haven't found out the reasoning. I don't
know
if this apply's to your situation, but it seems to be a problem with
computers that are running versions of XP in other languages. We don't
yet
have a fix for this.
