Truthfully, I have never gotten a decent recording of anything, whether I
held the BP's mic close or far away. That's okay. I didn't buy it,
because it was a memo recorder.

It works great for recording snoring too, as I can attest to, from many nights where I have pressed the record button in my sleep.

Agreed--it's not designed to record a classroom lecture or much of anything else with a source that's more than a few inches from the microphone, but for making notes on something as you read it; or quickly recording telephone numbers or other information in a similar situation; it's perfect.
