Do you have the latest firmware? In the latest firmware, virtually all navigation features are available for unindexed files. I don't know what everyone is talking about then they're saying that if you don't use the transfer software, you lose a wack of navigation features. It's just not true...audio seek, power movement, bookmarks...all there.

hello,

If I am understanding correctly, that is what I am doing, copying the ripped
files from a folder to the card using I E copying and pasting, but that does
not give you navigation in the file, and when I tried to use the transfer
software, it tells me that it cannot transfer files because there are some
BMG extensions.
I tried going into the folders to delete the BMG files but could not find
them.
When looking at the file list on the card in the book port however, the
files are there.
Wrote about this ages ago, but no one had any answers, or did not want to
bother, which is fine I guess.

Why not copy and paste?

hello,
Thanks know about going to the beginning of the file, but with some music, I
still have a problem, where the only way I can get the files onto a card is
by using Ie, which means I have no navigation.

Otto, I am sure that APH is monitoring this list and that your suggestion
will be read. In the mean time, simply press and hold the "One," key and
you will immediately be at the beginning of the file. I know, this is only
half the problem, because now, when you arrow through files, it will play
each file you arrow to from the point you left off unless you press and hold
the "One," key in all of them. I think you have a good point.

hello,

I can understand what you mean, the kind of problem you had will not happen
in this unit unless you remove the batteries for an extended period of time.
I still wish that there was a way to turn off the option of having the unit
go to the portion of the file you left off on, for things like OTR and
music.
I am very well aware that this unit was mainly designed for reading books,
but it seems to me that both options could exist on one unit.
As far as file support, I am with you on that, and hope that the unit will
some day support aug files also.

Hi all,

I have just finished cursing very much at my mp3 player. You see, I've been
working vigorously to get net library books to be downloadable on my
computer. After finally doing absolutely nothing to my settings, I got
curious and tried downloading just for the heck of it. Wow! My first book
downloaded. I was excited- and after aquiring the license (these are
protected wma files), I transfered it onto my mp3 player. This book, if
anyone is interested, was the shining, by stephen king. It was 15 hours
long. After 5 hours, I had to go for dinner. I powered off the mp3 player.
And, it turned out, the "resume" function on this particular mp3 player is
to go to the beginning of any file that was playing. (so, I fast forwarded
through 5 hours of material). I've said some very bad words in my time, but
not as many as today. And, finally, I got to the twelve hour point.
Frustrating, the battery dies. Fast forward for another half an hour. Out of
all of this, I would like to see the bookport support secure .wma files. I
will be surely talking with the folks at PNY for a firmware update, and hope
that, if wma files aren't supported, that doesn't matter- the bookport is
stil excellent, and I guess it will have a great update, nethertheless I am
very dissapointed in PNY's "resume" function...

Sorry for the long message, I am just in desperate need of the bookport
supporting .wma files.

thanks!
Tyler
