Just to expound on what Walt said, the Book Port is not a PDA of any kind. It wasn't designed to do many of the things your BrailleNote does, for instance. It was really only designed to be a book reader, and APH has done an excellent job of expanding that functionality to include an MP3 player, a memo recorder, and a notetaker. Since all the BP can handle is plain text--the results of the transfer tool always render plain text, even from grade 2 Braille files--I doubt there will be a method of notetaking using grade 2 Braille, but you never know. If you're tired of the limited functionality the BookPort has, just wait around awhile, it's always being improved. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Walt Smith Sent: Thursday, November 10, 2005 11:26 AM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: operating system The BP doesn't use an operating system. Is it windows ce 4.20 or some kind of DOS? Also, I would like to see a feature where I could make grade 2 braille files in the notetaker. Would it also be possible to emboss and print from the bookport via usb, like if you wanted to print your notes? They sell usb to parallel converters so the bookport could be connected to an embosser. Or, is the bookport's hardware too limited for this feature? Also will the bookport ever be able to run bns programs like the braille 'n speaks can? Josh
