Well, NLS is switching over to flash, but their flash cards will
probably be proprietary. They will be enclosed in a cartridge that will
fit into their players. This is because the majority of NLS patrons are
senior citizens, and they're trying to come with a way that the flash
cards can be safely and easily handled, and, not lost!

Subject: [bookport] future question

I know right now the Book Port isn't capable of playing things that
haven't first been sent via the transfer software, but are the creators
considering the possibility of changing this?
As of now I don't mind the process, but isn't NLS eventually switching
over to flash as well? At that point it would be really great to just
pop the card in and out and not have to bother with the transfer
process, which ultimately is just basically duplicating what they've
just sent you anyways.
Maybe I'm wrong..
Tiff
