Rich do you want to use the define text command to find something or the Braille keyboard method? You can type in specific words with the Braille keyboard method, but, with the other method you have to locate the text in a document, go through the steps to define it then use the commands to find the previous or next occurrence of it, 7 plus 8 and 8 plus 9, respectively. I find the online user's manual helpful at times, even though the manual is on the Book Port. It sometimes helps me to refer to that while trying something on the Book Port. The direct link for this is: http://www.aph.org/tech/bp_doc.htm#714 I have only played around with finding text briefly with each method but found both methods successful. Let us know if there is something specific you are having problems with. Is there a portion of the instruction that is unclear to you that someone might be able to clarify? The section of the manual I looked at didn't discuss being able to type in your own search string. If someone feels like sending me the crash abbreviated course off list I would appreciate it. Rich
