I agree that that is one set of problems. An equally annoying set of problems for a user of the transfer software is that the software is extremely cpu intensive when transferring daisy books for example such that it is awkward to perform other tasks on the pc while files are being transferred to the bookport. Some of this problem could be alleviated if the processing happened on the pc instead of sending the files directly to a usb device wile the files are being converted, re-encoded, etc. To date, this is the only serious drawback to the bookpport I have found.

Actually, he was just kidding. The problem with that is that you would
still have the problem of switching cards and units. That's where you
run into the problem.

I am not sure what prompted the rant below, but what I had in mind was
a
simple registration type key like we often see when software is
purchased
over the web. The string of letters and characters would be sent to
the
user by e-mail and copied into a license box in the bookport software.
A
good example of an effective process is found with ftp voyager produced
by
Rhinosoft.com.

Oh come on, Sandy! A key on a 5.25" disk would be perfect, and lots
of
fun. You would get three installs across any three machines you own,
would have to use the key disk to move keys around, and when you
needed
it most, the key disk would fail! And, good luck finding a 5.25"
floppy
drive!

Don't worry; APH wouldn't do such a thing.

Please. Not another key...

can't we simply get a key or something for this purpose to

We cannot do this when there is protected content involved such as
with
audible.com or with books from rfbd.

Hi everybody:

I would like to see a feature added to the bookport software on the
pc
that would allow us to create bookport ready files that we could
then
copy to a flash card using a card reader. This would allow all the
heavy lifting to be done on the pc and significantly speed up the
time
that it now takes to get a file ready for reading on the bookport.
This
feature would be especially advantageous when dealing with daisy
audio
books. THoughts?
