Only one person has reported that Sound Taxi crashed her system and many of
us are using it regularly without any problems at all. Moreover, Sound Taxi
will convert both Overdrive and Audible books to MP3 format directly.
Granted, it can be V*E*R*Y slow, but the program will allow the queuing of
multiple files, so just start it running before you go to bed.

The Zen Stone has a number of shortcomings, including the fact that when
playing MP3 files, your position within the file is not saved if you switch
to another file. If you simply turn the Zen Stone off, then turn it back on
later, your position is saved, but not if you switch to another file. I
regard this as a major show-stopper with the player.

But not if you want to read overdrive protected books. Tried it, and not to

be a wet blanket, but sound taxi has been known to crash computers, not
always, but an expensive risk. Better to invest in an accessable player.
Those who have the zen stone player can tell you more than I, but the
screenless verson, at 1 gb isn't supposed to be too bad. There are also the

olympus ds 30, 40 and 50, Very overdrive friendly, but pricy. Others with
other players can advise you better.
