[bookport] cards and card readers

Hi listers.
I have the compact flash card that came with the book Port and a card I
bought from amazon, sandisk 2-gig card.
I also own a portable barcode scanner with a 512 meg compact flash card. I
bought a card reader from the same company so I could update the barcode
info when a new verssion came out. The thing that I'm wondering about is
that the card that came with the Book Port and the Sandisk card I bought
from Amazon will not work in the card reader that the Barcode scanner card
works in, I know the Bar code scanner people recommended lexar flashcards.
Do my other cards not work in the portable reader because of a brand
conflict?
