Hi Jim,
Yes, I had this very same issue with my new Book Port a couple of weeks ago.
I have the Book Port Transfer program installed on my IBM Thinkpad.
I have a powered USB hub, and was connecting the cable to the hub.
In my case, the problem was resolved when I connected the cable to one of
the notebook's USB ports, rather than using the hub.
I wish you well on this one, as it drove me crazy, until we found the
solution.
