Just cureous,

Thanks,

Johnny C.

Hi, Pamela,

I had reservations about the Book Port when it first came out, because there was no notetaking function, but I thought I could probably use in in other ways.

When the notetaking function came, my jotting was revolutionized, and my reservations about the Book Port vanished. For many things, gone were the slate, stylus, and brailler, as I could write, upload, download, etc.

When the notetaking function appears on this new device, I will get it, and it will be well worth the wait.

Will this new device take compact-flash cards, memory sticks, thumb drives, or what?

Thanks.

Mark

Hi Mark:

The original Book Port was discontinued because parts ran out. We had also reached the ceiling as far as making any changes to it. Therefore, that Book Port was no more.

For the past 2 years, we have been working on a replacement product. In that time, we have had to change manufacturers, which also meant some changes in the design.

The Book Port Plus will be that replacement product. Since we are working with a manufacturer who already has a product, it is more feasible to modify an already existing product than it is to start from scratch. Because of the deadlines, when the product first comes out, it won't have everything onboard. That's unfortunate, but that's the way it is. I don't know how far you go back with Book Port, but if by chance you came on later, the Book Port did not have note taking capabilities when it first came out, either. That was something that was added at a later time. I'm sure that we intended to have everything onboard when the Book Port Plus comes out, but things happen in development and therefore, some things may take more time and development.

Pamela

Hi, Pamela,

I thought that the entire experience of the Book Port was to include both reading *and* writing functions in one very neat and small package, thus eliminating the need to carry yet another gizmo for notetaking.

What is wrong with enhancing the Book Port in its current form, rather than scrapping it for something else, without including an important function in the redesign?

Thanks.

Mark

Hi Mark:

The initial release will not have that capability, but I'm told that it is being worked on for a later time.

Hi:

No. It uses the same as the other Plex Talk use. The only thing we're changing is the menus, which will be a human recorded sample.
