Well, if you press D+E+F and you're equally quick with the change, then you 
don't have to reset time and date, since they're saved when those keys are 
pressed. That's the main reason I use it--means I only have to reset the 
time about every four or five battery changes.

If I understand correctly, it is necessary to press d plus e plus f when
changing batteries only if you think it will take longer than 30 seconds.  I 
get
everything ready, then make the change as quickly and smoothly as possible.
Afterward, all I need to set is time and date.
