You'll be fine. The only thing you don't want to do is connect speakers
to it that need to derive their power from the Book Port. Otherwise,
you'll drain the batteries quick. However, since the speakers you're
speaking of were meant to be used with the computer, then they probably
have their own power supply, so you should be in good shape.

I got a set of speakers with my new Dell desktop which I did not
need..
I would like to use these speakers with my book port but I thought I

better check.
I could not find anything in the book port papers that warned me not to
use
certain speakers.
I do not want to blow up my little buddy!
