I too have experienced this kind of problem for some time. My contacts appear fine and reformatting doesn't seem to make a difference. It happens with more than one flash card. I was of the opinion that it was caused by a short in the output jack, although, I have never understood why the reset always corrects the problem. I placed a hard connector with the same female and mail end between the output jack and my earphone jack. Before you ask, I have tried other earphones. Off topic, does anyone on this list have a small MP3 player that will play MP3 books and resume at the exact point where you stop reading? I have considered sending my Book Port in for repair of this problem but, so long as I can reset, I hate to give up reading MP3 books off the computer.
