Look at the bookport manual which is available on the APH web site. Appendix B explains the sililarities between the two devices and explains the differences.

I cannot tell you the advantages of Book Port over Book Courier. However if you're going to buy a Book Port I would wait to the end of the summer when the new Book Port 2 will be available.
