Just a couple of weeks ago Audible.com's homepage got a major face lift and is
now very, very busy. Each time you enter the website you're taken to an
embedded Macromedia Movie clip, and I can tell you for sure, JAWS doesn't like
those. Arrow up to the beginning of the page a few times until the Macromedia
thing gives up, which it eventually will. Then look for links with names such
as "Join Audible," or something similar. Several links with slightly different
wording will take you to a page which presents a variety of listening plans.
Audible's most popular plan is a basic one which gives you two free credits a
month for $22, a free Ipod Shuffle, and 30% off all additional Audible
purchases. Notice that I said you get two CREDITS per month. Most audiobooks
can be purchased with a single credit, but a few really, really lengthy ones
require multiple credits. Anyhow, the listening plans really can save you
money, since a number of books cost thirty or forty dollars.

The plan I like is called Ultimate Listener. For $119 you get twelve credits
which you can use anytime over the course of an entire year, and rollover is
permitted. This plan is great because your credit or debit card won't be
charged every month--just a single one-time charge. With this plan, all
additional credits can be purchased for 20% off Audible's regular price.

Lots of new plans out there, so if any of you haven't visited the site for
awhile you'll be surprised. Just remember that the macromedia thing will grab
you initially, and it isn't easy to shake off. Not a serious problem, but be
prepared for it.
