I've tried the 1-3-d-f thing and it just keeps repeating Application missing.
I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled it.
I'm not sure what you mean by opening in Windows explorer.

Have you tried formatting the flash card?
Have you opened the book port in windows explorer; seeing if anything is
missing?
Have you backed up your unit? If so, format it by pressing 1-3-d-f. Press
those twice.
