Larry and list, Update was successful, but I never got the
announcement that said, "done." I waited a long time, 45 seconds or
so, after the Spanish updates were loaded, but heard no other message.
The version number is correct and the unit works, so I am sure it is
updated. I just didn't get the final announcement. I wonder how long
people will wait before they dare to press a key. Just thought I
would let you know. By the way, very nice job. The book port rules.

Neal

Subject: [bookport] Version 2.0 Released

The Book Port team at APH is very proud to announce the release of
version 2.0 of the Book Port firmware and 2.0.1 of Book Port Transfer
software.

This update is available at no charge to all Book Port customers with
an internet connection.

If you have automatic notification turned on, the software will notify
you the next time you connect your Book Port to the computer while on
the internet. If you do not have automatic notification turned on,
connect the Book Port and select the Options button. Tab to the
Advanced tab and press the Firmware and Software buttons. Complete
details about what is new and what has changed are available when you
get the "An Update is Available" dialog by pressing the Details
button.

When updating firmware, be aware that the unit announces several audio
messages, so when you disconnect the device from the USB port after a
firmware update, please have the earphones attached.

When the update process begins, you will hear, "Code Update Started,
please do not press any keys," then you will hear the numbers 1, 2,
and 3. (There will be a delay before you hear "3.")

After the code update, Book Port will reset itself, and you will hear
its startup message consisting of the message Book Port Ready followed
by the new version number.

After the version number announcement, the unit updates code and
messages, and you will hear a message for each of these. Finally, if
the update contains any Spanish pronunciation rules, as does this
version, the unit will announce that it is uploading the Spanish
rules. When this process is complete, the unit will announce "done."

You are then ready to enjoy the new features.=20

Firmware Version 2.0, May 2005
        * Adds a note taker and related functions to the unit's
feature set. There are many note taker related commands as well.
These include cut, copy, and paste commands.
        * Adds commands to start a new Note or edit an existing note.
        * Adds the To and From Notes command.
        * Remembers the folder you were in when disconnecting from the
PC.
        * Adds support for files written in Spanish.
        * Changes the behavior of the Page Back command, so now it
always goes to the previous page. (Earlier versions went to the top
of the current page if you were near the beginning of the page.)
        * Adds more navigation commands to unindexed mp3 files.
        * Changes the extended statistics command to provide file size
information in MB or KB.
        * Adds Echo Keys to the menu to give you a choice about
hearing the keys you type in the note taker or with the Find command.
        * Adds the Back and Next by Time commands for
use with audio files.
        * Adds a new menu item, Audio Seek Time, to let you control
how the Back and Next by Time commands work.
        * Adds the amount of free space on the card to the information
you get with the extended statistics.
        * Increases the relative volume of the text-to-speech when
playing an audio file.

Software Version 2.0, May 2005
        * Adds the Fix File System Errors button to the Options
dialog.
        * Automatically corrects file system errors before updating
the unit's firmware under XP.
        * Adds the ability to synchronize notes with files on your PC.
        * Adds the Synchronization Confirmation dialog to preview
which notes are about to be synchronized.
        * Adds the Synchronize button to properties of files in the
Notes folder.
        * Adds support for sub-folders in the view of Notes from the
transfer software.
        * Adds the Retrieve item to the context menu while in the
Notes folder of Book Port Transfer.
        * Adds Alt+S as a hot key to activate the Send button.
        * Alters the internal techniques used to update firmware, so
now firmware betas notify interested users when new beta firmware is
available.
        * Adds the new audio version of the manual as a link in the
documentation.
