Hello fellow listers: I just thought I'd write a brief clarifying post on this subject. As you all know, there has been extensive beta testing going on since the beginning of this year directed at developing and releasing firmware version 2.0. As I understand it, those who signed up to be beta testers were given a special link from which they could download each new beta as it became available. I elected not to be a beta tester, and, subsequent to september 2004, was never presented with a "download new firmware" option upon connecting my bookport. Of course, upon hearing that version 2.0 had been released on tuesday, May 17th, I immediately connected up the book port and fired up the book port transfer program, whereupon I was invited to download the new firmware, which I happily did. Then, on june 3rd, there was a tweak to version 2.0, which was labeled beta, but, unlike the myriad other betas that had been out there between september of 04 and may of 05, this time it was put out there in such a way that the automatic update protocol caught it. Now, folks have talked about two glitches with the june 3rd version, but these glitches are very minor, and I would unhesitatingly recommend for anyone to download the latest available version, even though it is labeled a beta. The smart money says that the "searching" glitches will be fixed fairly soon, at which time APH will make the "tweak of the tweak" available; hopefully omitting the "beta" designation to avoid this confusion...and Joanny's trepidation.
