Definitely apples and oranges. The DS50 is a fantastic memo recorder that can also play music and read audible, but it definitely is no BookPort. I have a DS50 and use it daily for taking notes. It is terrific for what it was designed for, but when I want to read, I grab my BookPort. --Warmest regards, --Rick Alfaro --rick.alfaro@xxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Richard Ring Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2007 5:06 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Then their is this. Comparing the Bookport to a digital voice recorder is like comparing a Bunn coffee maker to an old fashioned percolator. First, I've seen the Olympus GS50, it will not play Daisy books. It will not announce file names as I browse my folders. It will not take notes. I have a four gig card with my Bookport which means I have quite a number of what once were referred to as albums on my card as well as a fairly large collection of books. My primary purpose for having a Bookport was never to record memos, and if it were I'd probably opt for the Olympus recorder. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Bruce Toews Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2007 12:58 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Then their is this. Does it do text-to-speech? Does it allow you to take braille nots? Does it promise regular and amazing updates? Does it come witht he world's best tech support? I rest my case.
