I have the free download version of the O L B software with about a dozen public domain Bible versions and the NIV paid royalty version. I have copied the King James version as separate files for each book similar to what Richard has done with the NRSV, except I retained verse numbers. In many of those Bible books, as I have had the time, I have set marks at the beginning of each chapter so I can jump forwards or backwards through the chapters until I reach the one I want. I also have portions of the AKJV copied as separate Bible books. I enjoy having a portable reading device with several Bible versions and Christian music all on the same device.

My thanks to Chris & Doris for making me aware of the KJV & WEB files available free from the Book Courier web site. I am looking forward to becoming more familiar with the World English Bible. After I downloaded all 4 versions, I went to the www.EBible.org web site to view some additional information and resources. On my BookPort, I set marks at the beginning of all 66 books in the KJV and WEB versions which are not marked with chapter:verse numbers. Though the verse numbers are not included, each chapter does begin with the word chapter, and the appropriate number. The marks now allow for quick movement between books, and by setting chapter as the search string, it is very easy to move forward or backwards between chapters when reading is not in progress (reading progress is necessary for the paragraph function to work). I found that once I had the WEBNCV01._AA and KJVNCV01._ AA files prepared, I can save a copy of each to a backup location, and I could share those files with other users of the two BC Bible text files. Of course, for those Bible books that have fairly unique names, using the search feature can allow fairly rapid access to that book (e.g. Deuteronomy, First Corinthians, etc.). . Otherwise you can go to the beginning or end of the Bible file, and then move forward or backward with the mark command. Using the jump by percentage feature is another way to approximate location, then use the forward or backward mark keys. The WEB version has a glossary of uncommon terms after the book of Revelation, and I set a mark for the beginning of that glossary.

I exported a copy of the NRSV from The Online Bible software. I exported it book-by-book. Now I have each book of the Old and New Testament in a separate file. It took about an hour to export all of the books to separate text files. You can have O L B export to a formatted text file so that each chapter starts a new paragraph. That makes moving through text a little easier. If you want a copyrighted version (NIV, NRSV, etc.), this is a decent option. Of course, you have to buy the O L B software and pay to unlock the copyrighted version you want.

http://www.bookcourier.com/XferBibles.htm

Please note that these are _not-, repeat not, meant for the book port but are for the sister product book courier. APH does not support this and you also do not install the bibles onto the book port but just copy it like you would any file to any removable drive.

Also, I am not sure how much you really gain by using these Bible files. You can move by Word, verse and chapter, with the bp's page matching one of the bc's chapters, but i have not figured out how to move by book and this might not be possible.

thanks much.

Doris
