Hi, Rich. You said I've heard rumors about some kind of modified OS for the Archos line but have never been able to locate any actual documentation, specs or anyone who knew anything concrete about where to get it. The Archos firmware is available at http://rockbox.haxx.se It will speak the menus of the unit, spell file names, and speak directory names. It is not so accessible as the BP and, of course, cannot read text, but it makes the Archos the most accessible HD-based MP3 player out there. It would be extra nice if there was a high capacity hard disc based accessible MP3 player. A talking 20 or 40GB MP3 player would be unreal. It would definitely not be a substitute for the Bookport either in size or features. Things like Custom play lists, random play and play all modes would be nice. I wouldn't want to take away any of the reading power of the BP for more powerful music listening features. A 2GB card for the BP is certainly a consideration, but that gets expensive and you don't get the advanced listening features. . I'd love to find out more about that if anyone has any details. I appreciate the zeal the BP staff has for their product. I'm sure they are as anxious to release it as we are to get it. It won't be long.
