And why should they be free? New hardware features would be okay, but I am happy with the Bookport I have. I wouldn't spend another four hundred dollars to buy a BP just because it had the latest and greatest bells and whistles on it.

If you like the Book Courier better, then... to each his own.

If it is in your pocket, it is highly unlikely the Bookport will be unlocked.
