I have never had the unit unlock itself and don't regard this as a very
likely occurrence, given that the 1 and 3 buttons must be depressed
simultaneously and without any others being pressed.

I am aware of that but if its in your pocket it is still possible to
unlock and I feel a swich on the side would be more appropriate.
