Sorry, puff's should be PDF's; damned spell checker!

And in a year or two, people will be clamoring for support for the NLS
codec, especially since NLS won't be issuing a portable machine, and I mean
portable like the size of the BookPort.

Perhaps PDF could be handled with the transfer software working in
conjunction with the Adobe Reader and presenting the results in Preview mode
before sending. If the file didn't read properly, another algorithm could
be tried since the Reader already possesses the ability to render Puff's in
a few different formats such as raw stream, inferred from document, etc.

What I'd really like to devote more engineering time toward is supporting
more file types. Protected pdf and wma come immediately to mind, and before
you ask, it is not possible to support protected wma on the current
hardware.

I am a college student, and I don't have to carry around tons of devices to
do the things I need to do. All I am saying is why add a feature that is
not really necessary? You're probably right when you say that the code

itself won't be very big, and it won't drive the cost of the bookport up.
However, the bookport's primary function is to read books. I don't use my
bookport primarily to take notes, record memos, or to wake up. I use it to
read books. Sure, those extra features are nice, but I don't go through a
set of batteries using those features.

ASK, "WHAT GOALS WOULD YOU SET FOR YOURSELF IF YOU COULD NOT FAIL?"
Don't
ask if it's possible or impossible. Don't worry about failing. Focus on what
you want, and let that be your guideline.
