There's one problem with allowing casual access to all of the speech settings and that is that if improperly combined, some settings can render a synthesizer useless. One of those that can do this, I think, is "head size," so I wouldn't necessarily want to see that available. There's a warning in the DECtalk technical manual about this problem of improper combinations of the various options. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rich Hartness" <hartness@xxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, October 15, 2004 9:50 AM Subject: [bookport] Speech menu Hi Jeremiah and list, I really like your idea Jeremiah of a speech menu that would open up more of the other voice options to us. It would be fine even to add this to the transfer tool so that it wouldn't use up precious on-board resources of the Bookport. Again, special thanks goes to Larry and everyone at APH for creating such a useful tool and for also listening to user feedback to guide it's ongoing development and refinement. Hard to imagine life before Bookport and that was just less than a year ago for me. Good day to all, Rich ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeremiah Z.
