Thank you very much, I will be having someone come to the house with some
vision who can read the instructions for me.
I know that one of the features is a timer on the charger to prevent over
charging.
Will stick to the kind of battery you suggested, and again thank you for
your help.

Two points:

(1)  stick to ni-mh rather than the older style nickel cadmium rechargables.
They tend not to have the memory problems associated with the older nickel
cadmium and, hence, will recharge more times successfully.

(2)  Rechargable batteries have a mah rating.  The higher the number, the
longer they will run in your devices including the Book Port.

Also, study the directions of your charger as far as how to charge
batteries.  These may impact the useful life of your batteries.
