It is, and isn't supposed to be able to be converted to another format. Some books can be written to CD, but DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. That means management by the publisher, not management by the reader. Some people are talking about sound taxi, you can record the file in a program like goldwave, split the resulting mp3 file, and send it to the bookport.
