They are the best sounding in my opinion under $100. They are extremely portable and they get great battery life. They also come with an AC power adapter if you want to use them without draining the batteries. Try going to www.froogle.com and doing a search for JBL On Tour speakers. I have seen them on the net for as little as $69.99. Another set that sounds very good are the Creative TravelSound speakers. They are cheaper. They also get fairly good battery life but don't sound quite as full as the JBLs, but they still sound great for their size. Good luck and let us know what you wind up with and how you like them. --Best regards, --Rick Alfaro --rick.alfaro@xxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rick Harmon Sent: Monday, February 20, 2006 10:49 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Portable Speakers Hi Rick, I would like to spend around $30 or $40 but will pay more for quality and portability. I'm a sucker for head phones and portable speakers, so I actually have a few of both. --Best regards, --Rick Alfaro --rick.alfaro@xxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rick Harmon Sent: Monday, February 20, 2006 9:53 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Portable Speakers Hi Dave, Thanks for the input. I Am looking for something to put next to the bed at night or when I just don't want to use headphones. I have also hooked up to the audio input on the pc to listen as well. I and others have been happy with the TDK ImaSpeaker. You can also use the NLS issued tape machine by means of connecting a patch cord from the book port to the auxiliary input of the tape machine. There are a few ideas for you to consider. These are not the only possibilities. Similarly, any headphones that will work in most portable devices are also OK.
