The page indicator is a hex 0C (ASCII value 12) character.

Hi Mark and list:

Yes that seems logical. I just wish I knew what that something was.

I have checked the wording of the file and feel sure the file is complete.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave. I believe the files have to have special marks that tell the
book port where page numbers and things are. I might be wrong here, and
if I am, someone please correct me.

ASK, "WHAT GOALS WOULD YOU SET FOR YOURSELF IF YOU COULD NOT FAIL?" Don't
ask if it's possible or impossible. Don't worry about failing. Focus on
what you want, and let that be your guideline.

Subject: [bookport] Paging of Word files

Hello list:

Just a bit puzzled over finding my way around in a document. Usually, I
just read things and never concern myself about things such as page
numbers. It has become necessary to give the matter special attention
with one document. The document was originally created in Word. All agree
that it has 21 pages. I have transferred it to the book port using the
book port transfer utility, point to the file and go to the end of it.
Upon going to the page number item in the settings key pad, I find I am
on page 6. Using the go to page feature, I am unable to reach 21. This
would seem to prove that the document doesn't have that many pages.

This is the first time I've put a Word document on the book port.
Normally, I read mostly text files or MP3 files. Just wondering if there
is something special about transferring Word files that isn't immediately
apparent.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Dave
