According to several sources on the Net, it looks like typical
read/write cycle counts for flash cards vary from 10,000 cycles to 100,000
cycles. The variability seems to depend on the density of the flash
memory: the more dense the flash, the fewer cycle counts you get. For NLS,
these numbers are acceptable because NLS will use them as "read mostly"
cards which patrons will use to read matterial published by NLS.
Bookport users, on the other hand, might wear out their cards more
quickly, however, because they'll tend to read and write their cards more
often.
