Howard, I'm not disputing the prevalence of viruses in these dens of filth
and exploitation but I wonder if the bugs which lurk there are any different
than those one encounters anywhere else?

The problem is, the agendas of the people who hang out where. Any place
that has open file sharing obviously is a great place to spread virusses. A
secure page where the owner decides what can be downloaded, is a lot safer
than a place that illeagally shares desired material like movies and music.
How do those porn pages make money? Since both sex and gambling are great
entisements for people who are in to that stuff on the net, their personal
information becomes a hot commodity. For that or more ledgitimate stuff,
when you sign up for free stuff, you may be assured it isn't. Just like
buying a raffle ticket at a trade show. Your address name and e-mail
address are worth the cost of selling you a raffle ticket, or giving you a
free movie download. If you live in the gutter, you get what's in the
gutter.
