Bill - I opted for the BP because of the much more aggressive program of firmware updates from APH, the support already touched on by Sandy in her message, and my overall satisfaction in past dealings with APH. The major improvement that I'd like to see would be the ability to vary the reading rate of audio books such as those from Audible and the inclusion of an a.c. connection in the unit for those times when I'm just lying back in my easy chair which happens to be located about 18 inches from a wall socket. In line with this, a cigarette lighter cord for use when traveling in the car would be extremely nice. Finally, improvement of the battery level circuit so that it would more accurately indicate the state of battery types other than plain alkalines (rechargeables, lithium ion) would be very nice. I realize the limitations of the current hardware, however, and that these specific changes aren't possible in the current model. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill" <052338@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, September 29, 2006 3:51 PM Subject: [bookport] New to list with a question Hi all I am new to this list and look forwardto being a part of the group. I do have two questions, but first let me say that my main, though not exclusive, interest in using a digital book player is to read books such as those from Audible.com. I am currently using the free IPod Shuffle that came with my subscription and find it less than satisfactory. So, I am looking into the Book Port or the Book Courier or maybe even a unit I've not heard of yet. Here are my two questions: First, why did you choose your Book Port over the Book Courier or other player you might have investigated? Second, Are there any significant issues with the unit that you feel should corrected? Any other comments will be much appreciated. Thanks for your help. BILL
