If a new feature takes nothing away from the basic purpose of the device
then it should be added.

No, it's not only a chip. As the original suggestion put it, the headphone
cord would serve as an antenna and that would require more than a little
fiddling, not to mention probably proving unsuitable, anyway. It's just one
more unnecessary component that would add complexity without adding basic
function that's compatible with the product's basic purpose.

It's only a chip, the radio. I kind of wish people didn't bash suggestions,
just because I don't want a feature doesn't mean other people won't use it.
I feel a feature only shouldn't be added if it some how took away from
reading books and playing mp3s if it only adds to the device sure add it.

If it had an AM radio, I'd certainly use it. But it's not a feature I
would request or lobby for.

they will require a hardware upgrade. I wouldn't send my BP away to be
upgraded, but if there were someday to be a new incarnation of the BP that
included a radio, alternative speech synthesizers, and other upgrades, I
would almost certainly buy one, even though the radio would hardly ever get
used by me.
