Beware of Sound Taxi. It installs a driver that has created major problems for some. It seems to run fine on some systems and create a mess on others. If you do a Google search for Sound Taxi and read some of the threads posted on various forums, you will see what I mean. It created a mess on my system and I had to go back to a restore point to get my system back to normal. It hosed my sound drivers and cd/dvd drivers. You can check out www.tunebite.com for another program that does the same thing but the interface is difficult, requiring a lot of mousing around and labeling of graphics, but it works at 4x speed. --Best regards, --Rick Alfaro --rick.alfaro@xxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Marc Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 2:14 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: New User and Question about Protected wma Thanks Burns, I am interested in whatever you have to share. The problem is more than translating wma to mp3 which can be done with a variety of tools. It's that the wma files are drm protected. So they don't translate like normal wma files. With total recorder you could play the file on your pc and record it and then translate to whatever file format you want but that takes a long time (the length of the book). I am not familiar with sound taxi, maybe they have a high speed recording option or something. I tried a program called Cd Master which claims to be able to translate protected wma files but it didn't work. Maybe someone else has experience with this product or any other suggestions for playing net library files on the bookport. It would be such a great thing to be able to download these audio books and listen to them on the bookport.
