Sd stands for secure digital. THey're smaller then a compactflash card,
about the size of a postage stamp. Other then that, it's the same concept,
it's flash memory. Sd cards do have a write protect switch so you can
prevent data on the card from being erased, much like you can with a floppy
disk.
