No. I don't think so. I get text files from several different places, or, I convert RTF or MS Word files to text. I also transfer BRF files to the Bookport. The lag happens with everyone of them, and, as it has been stated by others, you can never predict when it will happen.

Do you suppose it has anything to do with how the file was created? For example, if I saved a file in Kurzweil1000 as a textfile and it works fine, but a textfile created from saving a webpage as a textfile is slugish. That is only example that I thought of off the top of my head, and may not necessarily be the right combination. Also, what about slugishness with a Word file? I don't have any of those on my unit or I would try it.

: Greetings: : I have seen the lagging pointer for a long time, I cannot remember when : it didn't happen. Unfortunately, it happens to a greater or lesser : degree with files that seem to have no eye catching (so to speak) : distinguishing characteristics. In other words, I can transfer two text : files to the Bookport, one of them will exhibit profound pointer lag, : while the other will not. And in this case, it doesn't seem that size : matters. I've seen the same behavior with relatively small files (less : than 300kb) and in fairly large files (greater than one meg). I don't : know how the problem can be fixed when those of us who are experiencing : it can't be more specific than this. I hope that one of you who has the : problem will be the one to come up with the one factor that seems to : cause pointer lag, as for me, I'm stumped. : : : -----Original Message----- : From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx : [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of LARRY SKUTCHAN : Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2006 1:12 PM : To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx : Subject: [bookport] Re: Lagging pointer with the 26 update. : : : John: Is this with a specific file, or does it pretty much do it with : any file? : : >>> fritzfamily@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Tuesday, February 21, 2006 2:09:41 PM : >>> : Since I have updated to the latest furmware beta update the file : pointer : lagged. For example, while I am reading a textfile and more often a : daisy file I stop reading and when I restart the reading will resume 1 : to 3 pages back. I have read others with other pointer lagging issues : in earlier updates but I just started having this problem. I think : this : is very strange. : : : : John : : : : :
