Scott -

The information you were given is at least half right. There is a totally
new Book Port in the works and there's been some discussion of it here. We
know that it will be able to play the NLS digital Talking Books when they
become available later this year. There's no release date yet for the new BP
and I personally wouldn't predict seeing it before early summer at the
earliest. Given that everyone's time is being devoted to this project, I
wouldn't expect to see any more firmware or transfer software releases to
support the current Book Port, but that's nothing more than an assumption
based on the current situation. The current versions of the transfer
software and firmware are 2.3.0.0, although brand new Book Ports are
shipping with version 2.4.0.0 firmware to correct a manufacturing problem
with one of the chips, but this does not add any additional function or
features and is totally transparent to the user.

Subject: [bookport] Firmware updates and new bookport device

Ok all.

Appologies if this has been asked recently.
I have just rejoined the list and wondered is there going to be a new
release of the bookport soon?
I heard one was being worked on and was going to be possibly available last
december or there abouts.
What's the current status on this unit and also will there be any new
firmware available for the current bookport model?

I really enjoy my bookport immensly and hope the next release would
incorporate a power adapter for those who want to run off a c power and not
rely on battery all the time.

Nice job a p h and I hope the bookport stays around for many many years to
come.
