What numbers are you tracking? If one is served by one of the country's better library systems, such as myself, it is possible to have access to about 40 percent of the number of audio books NLS currently has available now. The Unabridged collection, offered by selected regional libraries, has more than a thousand books available. My local public library, the Chicago Public Library, has between 500 and a thousand. together, between my library for the blind and my local public library, the Overdrive audio books available to me is rather substantial.

This is not to mention the thousands of audio books available on CD and tape from my local public library. The CD's can be ripped with CDEX to MP3 files and played on the Bookport. tapes need to be digitized with an audio editor, such as goldwave, Studio recorder or Sound Forge.

Before you get excited about Overdrive, they just don't have that many books. It is a source of books... just not a great one.

I suspect that, though nls is rumored to have nearly 7000 books
digitized already, it will take them a while to convert the entire
library. The technology in players will certainly mature as that
happens. I am very pleased that aph seems to be working on a way to
make bp read the nls books. I've got my money sunk in bp and am glad
to stay with this relatively mature piece of equipment for a bit.
Another source of digital books people might consider is unabridged,
using overdrive. There are ways to make that work with bp already and
we don't have to wait.

Jeremiah 29:11 - 14.
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity.
