Ooops, I think I was already a little confused, and you just helped me be more
confused. If I am formating one of these 4 gigabyte cards other than on the
unit am I understanding right that I want to format it for Fat 32 or am I
wrong? I take it that there are issues formating that large a card for FAT? I
know I should be more sure of the answer to this question, but guess I just
haven't been paying close enough attention.

: The normal format is entirely dependent on the capacity of the card and
: ordinarily has nothing to do with the device in which the card is used. I
: don't know if the BP would format a 4 Gb card FAT32 or not, but I'm pretty
: sure that's the format that it would come in from the manufacturer. A 1 Gb
: card, I'm pretty sure, ships formatted as FAT.

: Subject: [bookport] FAT32 Question
:
:
: I thought I read on the list that the Book Port now uses FAT32, which
: allows for the larger mp3 files and larger CF cards.
: However, when I format a card in the book port and then check the
: properties in my card reader, it shows up as FAT.
:
: I have the latest firmware installed.
:
: Any clarification would be appreciated.
