< what can you tell us about the Sanyo battery charger? Is it a
fast charger like the Radio Shack and Rayovac?
I don't use a Sanyo charger - I use something called the "Ansmann Powerline
4 Traveler Battery Charger" which costs about $80
(http://www.adorama.com/ANC4AA.html).
It takes anywhere from 1 to 4 hours to charge a set of 4 batteries,
depending on how deeply discharged they are. I can recommend it for AA and
AAA batteries. It's a very high quality recharger that's designed to work
anywhere in the world, and comes with a bunch of plugs that let it be used
in many different countries.
NiMH batteries do self-discharge over time, but that's not really an issue
since I use the Book Port on a daily basis.
