Thanks, Nolan! Exactly what I needed to know. You also asked whether there is a way to determine the elapsed time a file has played. The answer is yes to both. This is particularly important to those of us who compress the time on the MP3 file. If you compress time, the actual playing time on your Book Port will differ greatly from the duration of the file that may be listed on your desktop or laptop, if you have duration chosen as one of the details you see when you look at a file in My Computer. To determine how long a file is, carry out these steps: 1. If you're at the beginning of the file, hold down the 3 key until you hear a beep. 2. Now pres briefly the 5 key. You should hear the amount of hours and minutes in your file. Holding down the 3 key until you heard the beep moved you to the end of the file; tapping the 5 key announced the length of the file as if you had fully played it to its end. Now if you're in the middle of a file, you need to set a bookmark at the point at which you've stopped before you press and hold down the 3 key. If you don't, you may have a somewhat more difficult time getting back to your stopping place quickly and easily. Remember, setting a bookmark is as easy as executing a 4+6 key combination once the Book Port has stopped reading. You can always press the 5 key at any time during the reading of a file to determine the elapsed time. Hope this is useful. Nolan Crabb
