Hi Sandy,Sorry that I sounded snippety. I zeroed in on the last part of the paragraph and I overreacted to your answer. I saw "so, how do I convert to MP3? Or isn't it possible after all." Your answer, "It isn't possible." waved a red flag in my face, and being the rabid bull that I sometimes am...
Anyway, my apologies, Regards, Don...----- Original Message ----- From: "Sandy Licht" <slicht@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Don, we were saying that you couldn't convert the files directly with Windows Media Player. Even as I type, I am converting said files with Sound Taxi. If anyone knows how to set the bit rate and such things, please write me off list and tell me. Now I wonder... Will it convert Real Player music? ...But that is for another list...At 03:26 PM 5/30/2007, Don Bomer (Tex) wrote:Lana, Clear and honest, perhaps, but totally incorrect!Sound Taxi, from www.soundtaxi.info, WILL convert Overdrive books to MP3 at much faster than "real-time" speed, period!!!I quote, in part, from the Sound Taxi site: Q: "Can I convert DRM protected WMA, M4P or iTunes files?"A: "Yes, you can convert WMA, AAC, M4P files that are protected with Digital Rights Management (DRM)."Q: "Is it illegal to convert DRM protected files with SoundTaxi?"A: "No, technically SoundTaxi does not circumvent Microsoft's or Apple's iTunes DRM protection. Microsoft's DRM protection system is unprotecting the protected DRM audio files."You may download a full-featured demo version at the above link before you buy the whole thing for $15. I've used Sound Taxi over a year to convert files for my wife with NO, that's N O, problem!I have no fiscal or personal interest with the makers or retailers of Sound Taxi software. Just passing on the "rest of the story" to all bookport users.Warm regards, Don Bomer... ----- Original Message ----- From: "lana" <lana5@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2007 1:22 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: Converting Overdrive books to MP3.Now that's clear and honest.
