4. Is case a flimsy leatherette, or more robust?
The case holding the device is soft, but the flap has hard material in the
middle of it to offer additional stability.>

I don't know about Australia, but, I am sure glad I got the case. Good
protection, and makes carrying it around easy and carrying extra flash
cards, even though only a couple extra cards will fit.
