When the new model is being designed, I wouldn't mind seeing a hinged or well-thought-out snap-on key cover equipped with a belt clip, or perhaps a clip which can be installed optionally with screws.. I can think of advantages with either implementation. The optional type of belt clip being utilized for some cellphones would be super. That way, those of us who have the carrying case could choose whether or not to add the belt clip. Might even be nice to see APH team up with Executive Products and provide the carrying case as a standard accessory to be shipped with new BP units. The additional cost would be a moot point over all, since most of us would want the case anyway. Just a bunch of miscellaneous year-end thoughts. I kind of like the idea of having the carrying case supplied, since that would be just one less purchase to be made separately. Perhaps customers could be given the option of whether or not to have the case included. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eric StevenS To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, December 24, 2005 12:30 AM Subject: [bookport] Re: Braille notes For all the genius in the design of the BookPort, the one glaring flaw to me is the belt clip on the back that makes the unit totally unstable for taking Braille notes. I suppose using it for Braille was an afterthought to the design and hopefully it will be corrected in a new model. So you can picture what I mean, the clip is on the upper half of the back of the unit when in the normal position. To use it for taking Braille notes, you turn the BookPort sideways, so that the clip portion then is on the under side of the right half of the unit. Hence, each time you key with your left hand, the BP see-saws back and forth. Some people have described affixing rubber feet to the left/bottom half of the backside, which I suppose is a fix. Just my two cents, which admittedly doesn't get you much! Eric SS
