I've had problems getting bookport to work with compact flash cards right now, if there's something wrong with the card, or if I've put too many files on it. You might want to check either or both possibilities.

I have a compact flash card 4GB.
When I place the card in BP it looks the unit. I try to reset the unit, and 
format the card but no speech. I  put the 1Gb card that came with the unit
back in, it works ok, the PC will recognize the new drive.
