Hi Richard, if you unsnap the two snaps from the bottom of the case, slip your Book Port down about an inch, then slide the top of the case off the BP and pull it out from the front, you wouldn't need to remove the CF card when changing batteries. Glad to hear you like the EPI case. I want to thank Caroline for mentioning this case a couple of weeks ago. I have been looking for a case for my Bookport and I have tried a couple of generic solutions, none of them satisfactory. I would have preferred a hard case until I bought this one. I have provided the link to this item in case anyone is interested. There are a couple of reviews on the site but here are some additional comments that I would like to add that were not mentioned: 1. It is black leather, extremely well designed and perfectly fitted. 2. The price is $53.26 including shipping. Pricy but worth it. 3. It include a 1 inch wide black nylon shoulder strap, a nyoon wrist strap and a belt clip. 4. The front flap wraps around the back when open and fastens with velcro, This can't be done when it is attached with the belt clip, but if the flap is left closed with the velcro unfastened, the buttons are still eadily accessible. 5. The front flap is semi-rigid and provides adequate protection. If you carry additional CF cards in their cases in the front zipper compartment then that provides additional protection. The interior of the case is thinly padded so it doesn't add unnecessary bulk. 6. It is necessary to remove the CF card while putting the BP into the case or changing batteries. There is a slot for changing cards. 7. I use the wrist strap as a backup to the belt clip although the belt clip is leather covered and hard to put on and take off and is unlikely to slip off a belt. All in all, I can't conceive of a better design.
